Interior "Buzz" - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

If when the motor is Running(or maybe the ignition just needs to be in the Full "On" position) I stop the car open the door and continue to press the brake, I hear a very faint "buzz". Letting off the brake ceases the "buzz" Its the same buzz as when the keys are left in the ignition/lights are on only softer. Anyone had this problem? Whats the part/ Part# I need to correct this. I have this problem on both cars.

But I only had time for 2 shots.

Its an old problem on the 400E (4+ yrs) but notice it ever so faintly on the 500E as well.

Hey Al. See if its not coming from the domelamp asembly. Theres a incar temp sensor called the aspirator motor. They go bad the bearings wear out in this timy motor and start buzzing.

Have the same problem. I think it's a sort of a short somewhere. After opening the door and the key's still in and your foot is on the brake, there's a very faint buzz, which sound's a bit strained, as though the switch isn't making full contact.

My tech thinks it's grounded. Backlighting of some of the interior switches is perpetually on as well.

Will update you once I get it sorted out. Hope you do likewise...

That deal in the ceiling is also related to your seatbelt sensor. Frequently, there is a bad receiver (seat belt receptacle) that makes that happen. Hope this helps..allen

The car's in the shop now. Apparently, they found that the motors of the headlamp wipers to be shot. Could be causing the ground *if* it's in the same circuit (my hypothesis, not the shop's). May or may not be related but that's what they've found so far. Will know more tomorrow. Had the car sent late so there wasn't much work done yet...

Will keep you posted...

GREAT! What better reason to ditch that setup and get the now infamous Vented lower headlight panels.

I was actually thinking of doing that...
...but does it really help?

I was thinking of cutting out most of the metal on the vertical plane, leaving just a bit to serve as a frame and put in black mesh.

That sounds like a great idea. That would be the most straight forward way to do it. The problem is/would be making the cut clean and straight. I considered many DIM(do it myself)options but ultimately decided to shop the work out. It was expensive , but the results were immaculate. As for "worth it", as you know these cars tend to run on the warm side. The vented panels most definitely contribute to the quality of air entering both the engine and indeed the amount entering the compartment as well

Albert,

Got my car back yesterday...apparently due to the incessant rains, there was some moisture/condensation on the pertinent relays of the affected components. 3 in all. All they had to do was remove them, clean them and reinstall them. Buzz is gone. Lights go out when they are supposed to. And I'm a happy camper once again. Hope the fix is as easy for you.

The bad news is that my headlamp wiper motors are shot (one of them at least)...so I'm really considering doing the intake mod. I already lined up the guys who are going to be doing the cutting and repainting...all i need is to find the right kind of mesh. Any clues as to which ones would do and where to get them (other than MB's E55 parts bin)?

As for the mesh, the AMG mesh isn't any different than what I've seen at the hardware store other than it is coated (powder or some type of rubberized polymer). Find a powder coating shop there then checkout the local hardware or specialty store and get some stainless steel mesh to your liking then have it coated.
Pre-fit all the pieces before having them coated(Both the panels and the mesh for greater durability against chipping/flaking). I used some black silicon(I'm sure clear would do just fine) and siliconed the mesh to the panels from the back side..

Lastly, I'd be remiss if I didn't offer to sell you a pair of wiper motors should you choose to go back original. I have 2 sets as I removed wipers from both cars during their conversion processes.
