"Garage Queen"

A garage queen is a car not driven, but rather left to skulk about its garage looking pretty, but not really doing anything. 500Es, as we all know, are meant to be driven.

The intent of my statement was to ensure that 500E owners came to this thing dressed up in a 500E, not some other form of transport

Garage Queen Analogy

A story told to me by an Air Force Squadron Leader.

A General called and told the SL that he needed him to roll out a Stealth Fighter for a routine flight to another Air Force Base for a meeting. Upon arrival to the Tarmac for departure, the General found an F16 all gassed up and ready for his use for the flight. The General Stormed into the SLs office demanding to know why there was not an F22 sitting all gassed up and ready for his use.

The SL told the General that the F16 would get him to his destination just as fast as the Stealth Fighter would. The US spent a lot more money to build these F22s than the F16 and a lot more to maintain them and to keep them combat ready. The general public and our enemies very rarely see the F22 in flight or even parked on the tarmac or a runway. We like to keep the public awed when they rarely see one so they don't ***** and moan about the cost of them and the only time we use them for a non-combat mission is when we take them to an Air Show to show them off. The General thanked the SL and accepted the F16 for the "milk run" he had to make.

I will be at your show to show off my stealth W124. When I need to go get milk, I'll take the other one.

Trailer Queen

Of course, there is also the "Trailer Queen". These vehicles are removed of garage queen status when they are loaded onto a trailer and ferried off to a car show, where they are oogled and then go back to where they came from. Hence the expression, "if you can't play with the big boys, put it back on the trailer".
Would it be OK if me and my wife's E55 came out to play too?

quasi-tech session

I have an easy one for you. Carl at Bergwerks recommends that I upgrade my brake lines, rotors and pads before I hit Watkins Glen in October. Also, I plan on getting the new CUP race tires(slicks?) so I was thinking of going to the +1 17" wheels.

If you wanted to explore the inners of the 500E brake system we could strip it down on the 21st?

Also, he recommends a 'better' brake fluid (and a change after EVERY track event).

Can I get these parts from our wonderful sponsors at MERCEDESSHOP?

PS> The NE PA mercedes benz club is having their event on the 21st.

OE-Sized Brake Upgrades

Many of our customers have inquired about improving the performance of their stock brake system without upgrading to oversized rotors, bigger wheels and the substantial cost associated with these systems. If this is your line of interest, you've come to the right place!!!

BergWerks has a complete line of stock-sized rotors that are gold cadmium-plated, cross-drilled and vented just like the big brake kits. Combined with high performance Metal Master (semi-metallic) pads and DOT-approved stainless steel brake lines, these brake kits will dramatically improve your braking under hard driving conditions and provide stellar looks without breaking your wallet. A full kit of 4 rotors, pads and stainless brake lines typically costs about $300 to $400 for most Mercedes models. Naturally, we sell each of these items separately as well. Give us a call or send us an email to discuss pricing for your Mercedes.

I do so look forward to hanging with 'all in the family'. See you nuts on the 21st.

Alan...OK if I invite my German photog fruende from NYC?...he's got no car though so I'll have to get him at the train station. Professional pix have to be worth some biers and chow..no?

Smile Thanx David

He lives on 24-26 44th Street...Astoria maybe? I'm very sure he'll be very happy if you picked him up. Or I'm sure he can get a taxi over to your place of choice. Again, thanx much for offering.

Yep...its Mr. Markus Esser...as for wacko driving...I think he's got to be used to it; growing up in Germany and all. He didn't bat an eye when I caravaned him up to Paul's S-fest at 130 mph with 2 others in the back seat. As we all know...the 500Es are quite normal feeling at those speeds.

I'll be there

Avon sounded better than Redding- but I'll be there. Perhaps some people might have an idea as to performance issues there.

Where and when?

Hi Tom, That would be a fun caravan- but I'll be heading in from Southampton NY taking the Port Jefferson Ferry to Bridgeport. Southampton is fantastic now that hte tourists have left- My E500 and I felt like we were in a Corona Commercial- that's how laid back and relaxed the Hamtons are after Labor Day. I left you a voice mail on your work #.

I still don't know where the event is and what time it is happening. BTW how many 500's are coming down??
