1993 Mercedes 500e for sale

I am reluctantly offering my 1993 Mercedes 500e for sale. It is completely stock, pearl black with black interior, and has less than 38,000 miles on it.

I've got a lot of pictures and more information at

1993 Mercedes 500e for sale

Thanks,

Barry Bentley

great car....and great pics

one question though...looking @ the carfax report,

it was issued a title back in 93 and sat there until 99 with 67 miles

then in 4/2000 passed an emissions test with 17,500 miles

four months later title was issued with 17,800 miles

how is that possible?

-Ren

PS yeah the prices are coming down aren't they :-) i need to snag one around the $25k mark 93 or 94...in black/black

Greetings W126

I've also observed asking prices of 500e's in general lower vs. 2001 and 2000...naturally as these vehicles age, get used up, are damaged, require restoration, & require major maintanance --prices for these type of vehicles will continue to decline.

I've also noted from feedback here that many have looked into purchasing the lower priced 500e's/ e500's hoping to find a gem but have found cars in need of significant attention to be correct ($).

In fact, there's a 500e on e-bay right now that hints of such a story (for sale again on e-bay ~@1 year of ownership/ purchased off of e-bay previously)...in this case -sounds like the current owner is pulling the finanical plug on this car in terms of sinking more $$ into it.

also, feedback from those looking to purchase the creme of the crop or very good condition vehicle appear to indicate that this type of 500e/e500 is very scarce to come by in the used car market and consistently command above book/market values.

ie
>a well cared for
>problem-free/ issue-free
>fully maintained
>documented, records
>correct
>accident free
>stock 500e/e500
>warranty
>etc.

I found this situation to be generally true in the used vehicle market and have paid special attention to it when that downside financial risk of correcting a specialized type of car presents extraordinary financial risk/ committment.

I've looked at quite a few 600SWB's, 6.3's, 6.9's, 280SL's, 280SE 3.5 Cabs, 280SE 3.5 Coupes, W140 600's SEC, 560SEC's, R129 SL's, BMW's Porsche's, etc. and have shyed away from near give away asking prices due to this situation. Naturally I learned my lesson the hard way.

Best regards

Regarding your Carfax question - If you look carefully at the 11/101999 record, it lists the title # as the same one as issued on 2/3/1993, and notes that that the odometer reading was recorded on 1/15/1993, so I think this is just a duplicate title being issued, probably as the first owner was selling or trading in the car. I have the maintenance records which show that the car was driven a reasonably consistent 2-4000 miles per year in the period from 1993 to 1999.

HTH

Barry,

Just from ur pics, one can tell u have a gem that would actually be worth looking into!

I just noticed the wacky carfax statement thats all.

On ur link it stated u had 10 cars? Wow!!! I say keep the 500E and sell another in your collection.

-fad,

How true.

In most cases, (esp with an older Benz) it's a good idea to use "the best car you can possibly afford" philosophy. Of course, hidden problems can crop up.

I've been lucky with the Benz, but when I first started buying vintage cars, I too learned the hard way. I think it's just part of learning process, though quite expensive!

renyf1,

Nine cars, not ten. Ten would be ridiculous.
