ASR defeat switch at perf products?

I just got the new performance products magazine in the mail for my 500E, just reading through it, and i noticed they offer an ASR defeat switch for $475. That's less than half of what renntech wants for one. I can't imagine how one ASR defeat switch could be better than the next. Right? But for some reason it says Fits '93-'94 500E/E500, wheres 1992!? But, at any rate...anyone familiar with it? Is it any good? I'm sure its on the website somewhere if someone is interested...

I beleive David hendy has installed the Perf Products defeat switch on his 92' 500E...the switch itself is or can be from a W140 car and the wiring takes a couple of hours to do from what I've heard. At half the RennTech price...sounds good but its just as easy to unplug the speed sensors to me, not that I do it often enough to warrant buying the kit. Go for it.

Hedpe..thanx for the response on the EvoII rims that I had for sale ...you're a real gentleman.

performance products is having their yearly 15% thanksgiving sale right now, so it's a good time to buy a big ticket item.

They now have for sale the same wood / leather OEM steering wheels for $599. that I got in Germany for about $500 (with shipping). 15% would make it worth it and they look unbelieveably good.

Check them out at:

http://eris-car.de/cgi-bin/shop2/iboshop.cgi?show1850,3133565810

I got the OEM wheel they call Steering Wheel Comfort. Mine is Zebrano, and it's a perfect match. Hi-Power got one for his '95 E420 in Wurzelholz (burlwood) which is the one pictured, and it was a perfect match for him, too.

Performance Products used to sell these for $799, so the drop to $599 is also helpful.

Not sure how I missed this post, but I have the switch on my 500E. It has been great. With my bigger tires the system works very, very well. On the track its a godsend (just ask Curcio!).

It is one of the best upgrades I made to my car, I would recomend it to anybody.

so you got the performance products part exactly? Thats a pretty impressive and meaningful list of mods you got on your 500E...giving me some ideas What wheels do you have on it? I upgraded to 245 front and back for tires, but would love 275 back, but i don't think my stock wheels fit 275 rear.

You have to have a minimum of 9" on the rear, and I have the Alurad Monoblocks. Offset must be around 30 or the rims will stick out beyond the fenders. The SL rims will not work on the back as they are the wrong offset.

David,
If you could only have one, would you choose ASR defeat or first gear start?
