107 suspension saga
Dear all -
I know this is topic that has been gone over again and again, but I'm still having difficulties after a month of intensive hunting. I am after some new springs for my 107 (1980 450sl) and cannot source ANY brands (Eibach/H&R etc) in Australia. Am quite happy to import them, but have had no luck with the major suspension dealers in the States either..........does anybody make these things???? (There are Eibach springs for the 6 cylinder 107 available, but not the 8 cylinder, and I would assume these are not interchangable)......I know that John Olsen sells them, but the $$$$$ are a bit much. Is anyone able to help??? Thanks, Daniel. |

Do you have the CD for your car? All of the spring specs are on it. I do know that there are factory sport springs for that year. If all else fails try a good spring shop. If they know wire width, relaxed and compressed height and how much compression it takes (or you want it to take) they can set you up. In the days before plug and play suspension tuning, parts were used from different platforms and even manufacturers.

Many thanks, Darryl,
I don't have the CD - I've been using the Haynes manual which has been getting me by so far. The manual doesn't show spring specifications though. I might ask some of the other 107/450sl owners on the forum if they have the specs, or write to MB. It's a start! Thanks again, Daniel |

I got the specs in a pdf file but you don't have a email address listed.
