Who has the most mileage on their 500E/E500?

Although it seems that most of us do not use our 500E's as daily drivers, I do. I hope to log many, many miles. I would like to know how many high mileage 500Es are out there, and, incidentally, what problems may have occured as the miles rolled by.

I just rolled over 110,000 yesterday. I'm going to snap a photo at 111,111 with 111.1 on the tripmeter. The only major problem is a rebuilt tranny several months ago and my cd changer is acting up (see other post).

I'm at 147k

I have 147k on mine (bought it at 138k 11 months ago). Problems have been a tired belt that caused squealing, exploding front brake pins, and a recent "check engine" light that I haven't explored yet. All in, I expect to have spent about $750-1000 on all maintenance and repairs in my first year of ownership.

I also need to replace the tires.

233,000. I have replaced quite a few parts, including alternator, water pump, air pump clutch (3 times), radiator (2 times), brakes, lines and drum brakes, antena (2 times) and of course oil every 5000 miles. The car is still solid and runs well except for a short in the alarm system(have yet to fix, old wiring to blame).

114,500 on mine. Sorry I haven't been around the forum much. I'm working at a job with a killer commute, and it breaks my heart to rack up the miles on this car whilst sitting in traffic, so call mine a semi-retired daily driver. It is running really well right now, however. It feels like it will last a long, long time. I like to get it out when I know the roads will be a bit clearer and I can expect to find some speed.

Only coming up on 60K here. But since I am highly unlikely to voluntarily relinquish this car, I'll keep filing bulletins as distance and time go up.

When I was contemplating joining the 500E ranks, I called the most reputable local independent wrench I could find, and asked about engine longevity.

He said that he had no idea how long a 500E would last, and went on to explain that he hadn't seen one die yet. Informed me that they regularly saw three 500Es at their shop, all of which were around or over 250K miles on the original block and heads (all three with owners who are maintenance fanatics -- what a surprise).

He cautioned me that all three owners had also been careful to see to the timing chain, rails and tensioner on schedule. It can be an expensive thing to forget about.

Mine's got 135,000 miles as of this week...I replaced or upgraded a ton of normal stuff but left T-chain, wiring harness and radiator to a new aftermarket warranty to do this winter. Will do shocks and springs myself too next season...gettin' kinda beat after 10 years.

After that it should be good to go to 250,000+ miles no problem...and I so look forward to doing it. What a nice car.
