93' 500e ??
I took a quick look around a 93' E this afternoon. what should I look for/at inparticular? 121K, Remus exhaust, chrome wheels, Body straight paint marginal, console cracked, few other items. I did not get a chance to drive the car. The history of this dealer broker. Buy "high" mileage cars and sell them cheap. I will try and driver the car this week and get a better idea.
what advise if any ? asking price a $18,000ish |

Go much lower than 18 g's. 2 years ago I got mine at that mileage for that price. Do a search for past threads on PPI...there's a ton of the best advice you'll need.
Just quickly...look at wiring harness, A/C blower, T-chain, N2 cells, P/S pump, plug wires, 02 sensor. At that mileage lotsa stuff is going to need attention w/in the next 20,000 miles. Interior stuff is pretty easy to buy new and replace yourself. Try to invoke the ASR and ABS to see if they function properly. If rear headrest don't go down in Reverse, try stuffing the sun-shade down the channel more. Get the VIN and have a dealer pull the VMI on it...find out the history if you can. And, most importantly, drive the snot out of it. |

Huh? Hey Big Guy! Do you mean when one puts the car in reverse, the rear head rests are supposed to do a flopsy like they do when one pushes the dashboard button? Tom |

...might as well know what you're getting yourself into ...so invest in a PPI and price the car accordingly...at that mileage it may need a bit of freshening up of normal wear and tear items:
>timing chain, chain rails, tensioner >H20 pump >mono belt and tensioner >alternator >front and rear suspension bushings >a/c condensor/dryer, recharge >major maintence service: fluids, filters, etc. ...you can also adjust (detract) sales price lower for the aesthetic items you would like restored: cracked wood, worn leather pieces, etc. If in fact the car needs all the above and runs well to start off with- - a reasonable sales price may fall in the $15-$17k range (given $5-7k+ is needed to refresh the car) hope this helps -fad |
