I thought the stock 2.3 front swaybar was 23mm?

Regards,

Don

Can't really say why that extra bend is there, but I am sure it is there for a clearance reason. If you look at the rear bar install pics on my web site, you can see that there is not much room there to fit the bar, almost seems like a design after-thought. Any style that deviates from this design may not fit at all.

A friend of friend - who has an MB Dealership in Holland has extensively researched the Evo situation and reckons that there are less than 100 Evo models of both types left on the European continent.

He thinks there are 30 Evo 1s, and 70 Evo 2s.

Most having been taken on the track and destroyed, or thrashed to death on the road.

In the UK, I can wander into any M-B dealership and order any part for either Evo 1 or 2 - despite the fact I've only got a 2.3-16v

So it must be a country level decision.

Yeah - this guy reckoned that the ones - especially the Evo 2 - that are left are ultra low mileage mint collectors cars.

But.....

I know of five Evo 1s in the UK - all have done well over 100,000 miles.

Seems Europe in the place for me to go when I upgrade to an Evo 2.

- Seen a genuine Evo 2 on the motorway over here - and they look the absolute business on the move!

The two I saw were race cars. The Evo I was a collector car.

For those who want to fabricate a sway bar like the one
Desling(?) makes, you can buy the sway bar and arms at Speedway Engineering.

After you get the parts you could then have a good shop bend the arms to the right angles for fitment and then you will have a nice sway bar thats adjustable by putting in different bar diameters.

Parts go for about $145US.

The EPC confirms that the EVO II rear bar part number is 201-326-37-65. And it is available in Europe, as shown at this URL:

http://wwwsg.daimlerchrysler.com/Projects/wi/cda/etpl?ETNR=A2013263765&from=query&etpl_lang=01

If you want one, email the nice folks at www.speed-autoteile.com (Roland or Christian, email is Speed8467@aol.com ). It should cost about ~$75 USD, plus a wad for S&H to the US... probably another ~$75 USD. Still, ~$150 for a genuine EVO II rear bar ain't that bad. Could probably get the price down with a group buy to save on S&H. Oh, and they take credit cards, no fiddling with expensive (!) bank wire transfers like most other companies in Europe (AMG, Jehnert, Wiechers, etc).

The part numbers for the rubber bushings have rolled to a 210 part number, which thankfully is a LOT cheaper, and easily availble in the USA... 210-326-08-81 (two required).

HTH,

81.42 Euro is about 95 USD, not 75. The EURO is stronger to the Dollars right now, but a company that takes credit cards is definately an advantage.

Yes, but they sell parts at about ~25% discount off MB list in Euros, then tack back on the 15% conversion, so you end up with roughly 10% off the Euro price in USD. Confusing, I know! I believe Shanta just ordered the E60 sway bar and E500 Euro lights from them, I'm curious how it all turns out. They get the parts straight from MB, then ship them to us over here. AFAIK they don't drop-ship straight from MB to us, like the USA dealers (and Rusty) can do.

What is the regular part number for the 2.3-16 sway bar and bushings, etc?
