brake / rotor combo w124

okay, i'm inclined towards ATE powerdisc w/ PBR deluxe (non-metallic). i hear the powerdisc can be noisy and want to hear verification on whether or not this is the case. is the plain ATE a good alternative?

I have the standard ATE rotors and they work great. I was going to install the powerdisc rotors but several members told me they don't make much of a difference.

I too have the ATE standard, the only reason I didn't get the powerdisk is because when I told my mechanic, he was like, slotted what? Why on earth would you want to put those in your beautiful car?! Of course, he said the same thing about my lowering springs and wheels...

why not get the Balo's they the only ones that make rotors with the same process as the dealer rotors, and they're only $36-42 each - at/cheaper than ATE. I've had no problems with PBR Deluxe on regular ATE discs. I have the PowerDiscs and PBR's on my VW and they work fine.

those slots are more for cooling than performance and i would just hate to have a warping problem which i've heard about from quite a few people upon changing rotors. if benzmac says that he had to take off two sets on account of noise then there is a noise problem so i'm just going for the regular ATE's...

I have ATE PowerDiscs on the wagon & 500E, along with "yellow-box" Textar pads.

I use only MB brake-grease along with the original stainless-steel shims, and they are NOT noisy at all. Very quiet.

I used the MB brake-grease and shims with Porterfield brake-pads on the ATE PowerDiscs and again no noise and no warping.

BTW- you MUST upgrade to the 400E/500E master-cylinder and double-diaphragm brake-booster to REALLY get the effect of the larger calipers & rotors.
