License plate on 500E

I saw a 500E in phoenix AZ with a license plate of HAMMER. Why would a 500E have a plate that says that? I could see a w124 AMG Hammer having that plate or even a W126 with the 6.0L M117 DOHC engine with it because they share the engine, but why would a 500E have that plate? The 500E was designed to have a more relable production car than the hammer. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Austin

Maybe the owner had a real one and sold it for the 500E and just used that old license plate?

Someone I knew w/a cherry modded 190E 2.3-16 had the same plate here in CT a few years back. I would tease him that he was mis-representing his car as an original. To each his own...

Remember guys, the 500E was called "a velvet hammer."

As I remember the 500E was inspired by the AMG Hammer.

The thought process was stuff a big engine into a smaller car.

i like neil's plate.

the colour is bornit, is it not, neil? dunno the paint code though.

I saw an older BMW M5 with the plate "EM FUNF" and we know MBCA seattle section members whose last name is "Hundertmark". Their plate fittingly reads "C-NOTE"

I'd thin VLVTHMR would be a good one.
