C43 Differential Question

Hi all --

I've heard that my 1999 C43 does not have a limited slip rear differential, that the ASR system is somehow supposed to mimic a real limited slip deal.

Is that so? If so, would it not improve the car considerably in the snow, and as far as straight line launches and extreme cornering go, to either remove or defeat the ASR and have a limited slip differential with the same gearing ratios installed?

Any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Also, who, besides Renntech could supply and install such a system on my car.

(I originally posted the above in Hot Rods and only got one response [copied below] and repost here, hoping to get more info.)

On any car that has an electronic traction system the use of a limited slip would make the car go crazy!

The ASR/ESP OFF switch on that car should allow both rear tires to smoke if desired.
