I removed the resonator (rusted) and had the muffler shop run new lines from the cat to the stock muffler. It actually sounds pretty good. Not ricey at all! It's not very loud but you do hear a gurgle during engine braking (downshifting) which to me sounds really nice. I've considered putting new tips on the muffler, but you know ... so many projects, so little time.

Yah I hear ya man I haven't had time to wash my car lately. Is that gurgle your hearing from poor back pressure?

You know, it could be poor back pressure, but I'm not really sure. It does sound nice though

Remus on 2.6
I have a Remus on my 2.6L 190E. At first, I installed it with the center muffler (resonator) intact. It was very quiet. Just a small hint of a nice low bass sound at idle and just off idle, otherwise you couldn't tell it was even there. No performance increase. Later, as my resonator started rusting, I just had it removed and replaced with a Y pipe just to see how it would do. I actually like it. It is not all that loud. It is much quieter than the rice rockets you see around town with their turbo mufflers. However, you definitly do hear it. The only time it really bothers me is when I'm on the highway and I get a little bit of an intrusive droning sound. Not real bad, but might not be acceptable to some. I think I got a small power increase out of it, nothing much, but a little more torque.
I say try it without the resonator, and if you don't like it, have it put back in. It's definitely not a loud sound that will make you feel like an attention getter. It is actually a pretty nice tone. I've had mine like this for 2 years. I think I may have a hi flow resonator put in to tone it down just a hair. I want to hear a little exhaust tone, with the stock resonator there was very little tone with the Remus. Hope this helps. Wayne |

I think I'm going to go with a high flow resonator cause mine is prob shot w/ 171k on it. Alot of people have told me that without a resonator ill get alot of highway noise that I don't want.

one thing i do know, is that the arospeed is a little louder than the remus...also ashman and i both noticed that the muffler, over time, has gotten a deeper hair louder in its growl...i love it!!!
and everyone at both my jobs always say, as well as strangers, etc. that i bump into again later, have all said that the car sounds awesome when i'm pull away... so for me... arospeed all the way...besides can't beat the price: arospeed 80.00 vs. remus 400.00 also if you take the resonator out, please keep in mind that your car will be substantially louder... i kept mine in

Remus exhaust are made to be quiet and reduce back pressure. It doesn't suprise me that another muffler would be louder than a Remus.
