Hydraulic Suspension on a 300CE
Is it possible to put Hydraulic suspension in Mercedes 300CEs. Over in australia, rapid rate adjustable hydraulic suspension that makes cars bounce is illegal. But if you get the slower rate hieght adjustable hydraulic suspension there might be a few loop holes.
Does anyone know if this is possible. If so is it excessively expensive. I am more interested in having the adjustable height for shock value for all the little Suzuki boys out there than for actual big bounce factor. I don't want my car to become a Monte Carlo. Has anyone heard of it being done? Should I forget the idea before I thought of it? I've just got a little bit of money sitting around and my car isn't modified enough yet. *Mike says to himself 'I guess i could invest in a house... nah the cars more fun. I live at home so whats the problem.'* Just playing with possibilities - I know it sounds stupid, but in Australia it would be something very different. -Mike.

well mike you may be able to , but the key is in getting the hydraulic pump in the engine compartment if it will even work.
I saw a self leveling spring/shock setup on ebay, you may be able to use if its possible. its worth looking into, though I can't seem to understand why you want to? is it to be able to raise the car? Because my understanding of how the hydraulic systems works is when there is a heavy load int he back, it will level the car out. I'm not sure there is a switch you can use to adjust the height. Alon

Ive been wanting to incorporate ride height adjusting into my car. But the few choices that I have found that air bags are detremental to handling dynamics. I don't know how differ it as all a so called hydraulic system would be, but it would sure be nice to be able to clear weird Texas road humps without scraping my car in the middle right at the differential!!!!

essentially it is so i can have height adjustable suspension to the range of about 3 inches, so it can be scraping the ground for crusies, mid height for handling, high for bad driveways and speed humps.
it really isn't something i want that bad it was just a passing thought.

I understand, I'm just not sure thats hwo the hydraulic suspension for a benz works... its based on load int he back I believe and then it raises the car. not sure if you could put a switch on it to do it...
Its worth looking into though... Alon

Ash you and me were thinking of two different systems. I think your thinking of the genuine mercedes stuff that came in the cars.
I'm thinking about the stuff that the guys like Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg and Xzibit all those rap guys use in their cars. Like you have obviously seen the Fast and the Furious, like the CRX(i think) in the movie, just as they are about to do the street drag in the beginning how it reverses up and then lowers one side then the other side. Its not a main car it just a quick shot of it. I'm not thinking of the CL500 airbag suspension.
