Hi all! Well, the longing for another M-100 powered Benz has gotten too much, I have decided that the only really suitable replacement for my beloved 6.9 is another 6.9 or maybe a 6.3. I have been eyeing a nice 6.3 which I think is going to reside in my garage pretty soon. Although I definitely feel that the 6.9 is a more "useable" hotrod, and is probably my more favorite of the two, I have never lived with a 6.3 (only cursed at customers cars while working on them!), so I think it's time for me to live the experience. By the way, excellent forum you guys set up here! The M-100s are my all time favorite MBs (600, 6.3, and 6.9) and I think they definitely deserve due credit! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 (SOLD) '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |

Aaron-
Let us know if you get the 6.3 and how you like it. This is a car that I would love to have! Not as advanced as the 6.9 but, quite a barnstormer. Either one of these 6.3's would be fine for me: ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

Bill, Hehe! After a few months in my workshop I might just pound one of those AMG-type hybrids out! I am greatly looking forward to the addition of another M-100. If I could only sell my '93 300E then I could buy another 6.9 as well! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 (SOLD) '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |

Aaron:
Welcome back to the fold, my friend. Now I, again, have a fellow M-100 owner with whom to commiserate. By the way, you may remember the sinking problem I had with my 6.9...? Well, after replacing the front height control lever -- to no avail -- I did a leak test on the front struts. They should only leak 2ml in 4 hrs. Mine were leaking 6! So I bought new struts and, $1k later, the sinking is absolutly gone. The car has been sitting for about a month with no noticible decrease in ride height. Now that my 6.9 budget is blown for this year, I can prepare for next year's extravagant repair! John |

John, I always have to sympathize with you guys who have to replace struts on a 6.9. I was unbelieveably fortunate with mine. Even at 203,000 miles, my struts were all original. The only work I ever did to the suspension was change the main valve (about $1,700) and put a new hydraulic oil pump on (that wasn't as bad at $550). I'm probably going to wind up selling this 6.3 for another 6.9 as I tend to run my cars pretty hard and the 6.9 is really a much better bahnstormer, but the 6.3 can be smoked through a series of 1/4 miles runs and will certainly not disappoint! Well, I'll keep you posted on the progress! I do know of a 6.9 in California that has a perfect body and good suspension but needs some cosmetic clean up. Maybe I'll try for that one. P.S.--Sometimes the thought of a second mortgage comes into mind when purchasing one of these. I know for me it did! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 (SOLD) '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |
