What is the optimum tire pressures for my 500E? Is it 29/29 psi, or 29/35 psi(front/rear).
Also, how do I remove the hard plastic around the shifter, so I can reach the nut that holds the shifter in place? David Hendy |

David,
The plastic that goes around the shifter should just pry up. The wood can be removed by first removing the center console bin. Look for the screws at the very front (inside) of the bin, remove, then the removal of the console wood should be quite straighforward. Beyond that, I'll defer to Benzmac. As for tire pressures. If you are running OEM sized tires in "normal" driving (as normal as a 500E can be driven) then I'd stick with the gas-cap recommendations. If you have some performance tires you can take the pressure up a bit but try to keep the same ratio as stock and stay under the max cold psi rating for the tire. If you are doing dragstrip stuff then you can lower rear tire pressure a bit but that is not something I'd really recommend for daily driving. Hope this helps....Lee [This message has been edited by Lee Scheeler (edited 02-14-2000).] |
