I've been checking out radio controlled atomic watches at http://www.atomictime.com

Although I don't own one yet, I do have a Heathkit Most Accurate Clock that I assembled from a kit, as well as a Radio Shack atomic "alarm clock". It's nice to know the exact time. It comes in handy for setting VCR's for daylight saving time, getting to work on time, and other such things.

What appeals to me is the accuracy of these timepieces; for $99 to $399 they keep better time than just about anything else, except maybe a (much bulkier than a watch) GPS unit with time display.

Not quite with the pattern, but here goes;

Cars:

'91 300 TE 4-matic
'87 528e
'80 928

Watches:

No known watches - unless you include the "Rolex" program I keep in my portable computer.

Re watches: my dad has an amusing saying (and at least 60 time pieces): if you have one watch you know what time it is; if more, you aren't sure.

Re MB build quality: they make about as nice a limited production vehicle as is out there. Competition sometimes makes them a little less nice than a predecessor in the same class.

Re the best you can afford: You should always be good to yourself.

I finally bought a Ferrari...wristwatch that is! A lovely Gerard-Perregaux President model automatic with gold bezel and leather strap, black dial with Ferrari logo, is now in the "garage" on top of my dresser :p.

the 1994 E500 in the dupont isnt a bad deal if you bargain down the price a little. i would consider buying it for like $33,000. lets face it, modified cars are usually worth LESS than stock. 92,000 miles isnt so bad if it was kept well. the car has to be a rocket though. the only i would change is the rims...18" deep dish 2 or 3 piece rims for sure!

Watches - Omega Seamaster (automatic), Movado Museum, Seiko Pro Diver (Automatic)

Love the Seiko & Omega pieces, but the Movado is crap! It's been in many times for service - only now is it finally operating properly!

I have a Casio atomic watch. Cost about $50 with shipping. More accurate than any watch I've owned yet

OK! Who dug up this oldie but goodie

Dean I am ROTFLMAO You musta had a bumper sitcker on the back of that Honda that read MY OTHER CAR IS AN E500.

Velly interestink that we share similar passions.
I am pretty heavily into Chronos

Everyday wearers are a Fendi with a Royal Blue face and a chrome and gold bracelet and an Omega Constellation with a gold flake face and a gold&stainless bracelet.

I have an old Seiko Dress Watch that refuses to die and was from a time when Seiko was a quality timepiece. (Reminds of the sad evolution of the Benz to just another foreign made import of a quality equal to a Lexus)

My P & J is a Solid Rose Gold Concord self winding Chrono with a black and gold dial and Alligator band. (Same watch issued to the pilots who fly the Concorde)

As you know, my personal vehicle is the E500
And the every day driver is the fastest station wagon Germany makes - The 540iT

I am somewhat surprised that if you had to drive an ML I would have imagined it would be the ML 55.

Tom: Lets be clear about this, the ML is my wife's....if I had a desire for fast off-road transport, I'd try a Lambo LM

Guess this is a good time to update the watch list. Here is a picture catalog - kudos to anyone who can identify them, including model and caliber!
