Hope one of you guys can settle an arguement; friends of mine have been discussing the merits of the 6.3 & the 6.9. One guy says that the 6.3 eats the 6.9 from 0 to 60 but can't keep up from 60 to 120. The other guy says the 6.3 will outrun the other all the way. Anyone have any input?

That's going to take a little research. Especially with the older 6.3's, the motors wore in, and you'd get different performance figures depending on the miles on the motor and who was driving.
For example, I've seen 0-60 times for the 6.3 ranging from 5.5 seconds all the way up to 7 seconds. I'm pretty sure the 6.9 was always over 7 seconds, so my money's on the 6.3 for the 0-60 honours. As far as top speed, both cars seemed to top out at around 140. Some a little under, some a little over, depending on the car and how it was broken in. According to David E Davis, "The 6.9 is not quite so fast as the 6.3, but far silkier and more sophisticated." This mirrors the opinions of people over at the M-100 group, too, who most of them think the 6.9 is the easier car to live with. ------------------ '00 ITR #110 '69 MB 300 SEL 6.3 #2546 http://www.george.knighton.com [This message has been edited by George Knighton (edited 07-07-2000).] |
