Qs on souped up 300 CE OR...

Dear fellas,

I was thinking about adding a turbo kit with intercooler on my 300CE M103. Currently it will need a cyl head job first and I'll be doing the usual port + polish. Either a 3.27 or 3.46 diff will also go in. I'm looking at 14.5 sec 1/4 mile. You guys reckon this is possible?

My 300CE is done up cosmestic wise and I've spent quite a bit. Tranny has just been rebuilt.

Other option is to buy a Volvo S60T5 for the oomph. Yes, I'm getting frustrated driving a 300CE because of the lack of power. Perhaps I'm spoilt as I am used to 300bhp cars.

Opening my thoughts to you guys....

It kinda depends what you want I guess. If you just want the straight line speed, the Volvo is okay at higher speeds, but for the dreadful front drive traction at lower speeds, and the automatic may emphasise the turbo lag. It's also not great riding, and doesn't like corners.

IMO If you want a good car AND the speed - turboing your 300CE is a pretty smart move, if possibly a little expensive or time consuming. As a hobby or project, it's a very good idea though, and there's quite a bit of help to be found here (not from me though, look at my car...). I would be more likely to fit a V8, rather than turbo, but it's just my preference. I think it's probably more straightforward.

Turbo charging an M104 electronic fuel injection is much easier than CIS M103 turbocharging.

you would be surpised how much more power the M104 is alone.

I think you could be in the 14 flat if you could hook up. You will want to stiffen your subframe. (My brother and I have done that already.)
