Although heretofore thought to be impossible (neither MBZ nor many Motorola people knew about this!), I just replaced my installed-in-'92 analog integrated Motorola phone with a digital current technology TDMA model!

Came across an installer that said he'd found such an animal, and since he at first didn't think it'd do both analog & digital he bench-tested it and confirmed its traits. Further, it can switch betewwen the 2 without dropping the call, and best of all when it's analog it runs a full 3.0 watts using the integrated antenna!

Literally bolted in; plug and play, just install the handset and swap brains in the boot. NO wiring. Took me 20 minutes, to include disassembling my console (mine's inside the locking part of the center console, unlike many with the phone on the side of the console like Tim V.)

Works awesome; only drawbacks are the spoken-voice memories when you hit the "D" key in the headliner are gone. However, the M1 and M2 memories are intact, as are the headliner Send and End buttons. This particular phone even has 9 turbo-dial one-touch memories.

The model is 19911WTMSA; the manual (out of print, but Motorola's overnighting me an hard-copy)is SJN5455A.

Good luck finding one...if anyone's interested, I'll look for another.

Yeah, why couldn't you find this two weeks ago! Already got my service ("damnit, we have another analog on our system") - big money and no extras. Just kidding, Michael. That's pretty cool.

It was fun watching the guy try and dig up information on a phone "that old" in order to get it activated.

They'd upgrade your service in a minute...they HATE analog deals.

Interested?
