I went into the city to pick my brother up at AMTRAK. Thank God i took my 1983 300SD instead of the C43. I actually found a spot right out side. While i was parking i was "tapped" in the rear by an SUV, while still in the car. It made 2 small marks, but paint is broken. Then i come pack to the car to find a 3" dent in the hood and grill! This morning i find the right rear tire FLAT. damm screw. needless to say, it would have been cheaped to pay $20.00 to park in a lot.

Noah, that's a bummer! I'm sorry to hear of that kind of stuff happening to ANY car, especially one of our MBs. Part of shmoozing my wife after she agreed for me to buy the 500E was to stop in NYC for a couple days. I was incredibly paranoid about driving my "new" 500E in the big city. There was never any doubt, though, as soon as I hit the hotel, I was THROWING the keys to a valet parking attendant. It was comforting to see the doorman walk around the car to record "damage" before they parked it. "Man, there ain't no marks on THIS car!" was his response. I'm sure the parking attendant had a good time on the way to the garage, though!
Hopefully, the dent doctor can get you fixed up! |

Truly sorry!! But welcome to the big city! If you ever get a chance to park in a garage then do so. Please note however that there have been some horror stories with garages in the city too Come on Noah, you live in New York, you should no better
There isn't a car in the 5 boroughs driven daily and over a year old that does not have a dent small or big in it, next time your there take a look. Play spot the car with no dent with your bro' and see 5 borough dwellers like me stay the hell away from Manhattan especially high concentration areas like the port authority and mid-town if possible. Your best bet coming from the island, if you love your car, is to park in residential Queens and take mass transit in and out thats what a lot of people do. Sorry again! |
