Duck,

That security guard must be a car lover himself, too. Apparently, you CAN NOT do power-slides on Mall Parking Lot. Most parking lots are either Government property, or Mall property, unless you have the permission to do so(or of course, you have connections with security guard), you CAN NOT do it on mall parking lot.

C'mon - didn't anyone else ever do "hot laps" on the gravel 440 track at the local high school??? Heh - we were doing power-on drifts there waaaaaay back in the pre-license, no-helmet, Briggs & Stratton-powered go-kart days.

Fuuuun!

I remember the night before I was going to have the previous owner's tires swapped out on the C36 (dreadful RE71's with fresh S02PP's to be installed the next day) Found a mall parking lot, flipped the ASR switch, brake torqued to 1700rpm, then floored it while lightly holding the brake. Don't know if mall security saw me as rearward vision was just white smoke.

A few months later the twin strips remain...Lee

Speaking of burning rubber...
Last weekend I picked up my son from a friends house with the ZR-1. His father liked the car, but wasn't all that impressed. I asked him if he wanted a demo, so with the OK, my son and I strapped in, Traction control off, power key ON, I dropped the clutch at about 5,000 RPM. We were leaving tracks for about 125 feet with smoke everywhere. I had to get off the gas or would have melted the tires, which BTW I need for Summit Point Raceway on 6/30/00..HINT..HINT
My son said, "hey Dad, what's that smell?" It's burnin rubber son...smells good, eh?
About 10 minutes later, I called they guy up to see if the smoke cleared yet
Life Begins at 180 MPH!!! (no stinkin speed limiters!) The neighbors r still talkin'.

Nice Gary...too bad you don't have pics. Nothing like a ZR1 "signature" on the pavement.

A friend of mine in LA has a stock-looking '76 BMW 2002 with a '91 M3 EvoII drivetrain. (A somewhat popular swap among Bimmer folks) The car also has big brakes, etc. to deal with the over 200 horsepower it produces. It has a quiet exhaust and no flares, spoilers, or other tacky stuff on it. It will blow V8 Mustangs, VTEC Civics and Integras, most 6-cylinder BMWs, etc. into the weeds in a stoplight drag race. Very entertaining when I have had the privilege of riding with the owner!

This march I was going to SC in my dad's 300E. I was in the right lane on 95 south with the cruise on 100 passing everyone. I heard a beautiful prrrrrrrrrrrr. I looked and saw nothing until for a split second I saw a yellow streak. I believe it was a newer yellow Ferrari. I could not see what kind. The car sat so low that I could barely see the top of it when it was right next to me. He passed me like I was not moving. I wanted to see what model it was so bad. But, I decided it is not worth even trying to catch him for I will just embarrass myself. Needless to say I was put in my place.
