The funny thing is, the amount of expensive Mercedes Benz's coming into Moscow and Kiev and east-european countries in general, roughly matches the amount of expensive Mercedes Benz's which is stolen and never re-appear in West- and Northern Europe. I'm not accusing anyone.. I just think it's strange coincidence. Freestyler

well, i know people think so.
it is not difficult at all to come along a stolen car when you are looking for a car to buy. And this is common to check severeal things before you buy a car here-if such a car has been ever produced byt he factory (basically if the VIN is correct)and if yes then to check if it is in police database of stolen cars. Buying a stolen car is a big risk because if it will be discovered that the car is stolen ( when re-selling, when passing technical emission test, on police check,......) you are guaranteed to have problems. But this all applies to the situation when VIN hasnt been changed. If it was, hmmm, well, it will come up that this car has never been manufactured when you check the VIN before buying. And it is easy to identify the corrupted VIN, any police expert with minimum of equipment will easily do. it depends on the person whether he wants to have trouble or not. Personally i would stay away from the car with a corrupt VIN. Most W124 E 500 on the market now are not clean ( no wonder they used to cost more than s500 when they were produced and were #1 on the hijackers list). and of course this kind of car will cost considerably less it is well known that some car owners in Europe when they want to earn some money come in contact with hijackers, give them a key from a car(or a duplicate), take some money, and when they are sure that te car is out of the country they call police and report car stolen. so they get a new car + some good money from hijackers and everyone thinks that car is stolen. who is to blame? of course russian mafia well about the amount of stolen cars in europe and cars in russia. Freestyler, you are wrong. this information is nowhere close to the truth. I do really much regret that people believe so. it is like saying that bears walk on the streets in moscow, and all russians carry kalashnikovs with them. this is very far from truth.
