SL should be out as a 2002 model. The earliest release date for new SL(from dealer)is some time in the summer of 2001. Maybe second quarter of 2002, but doubtful.

Hi all!
Oh no! I saw some spy shots of the new SL, and I don't like it! Ok, well, maybe it will grow on me just like how the new E-Class did. Well, I have to say that the current R129 is one of the best, timeless car designs. I just love that look; it still looks modern with a touch of MB's old-world class and quality. Someday, when I get my degree and start raking in real money, I will get one, probably a used one. Someday.
