1st - 2nd gear too soon, 3rd to 2nd not soon enough

- 92 400e, just had 60K service done.

I notice that especially when making a hard right turn at an intersection, that my transmission kicks down to 1st without my stepping down hard. It will kickdown to 1st then back up to 2nd.

When I'm accellerating onto the fwy and I need a burst of speed I more often than not don't get 2nd, even with the kickdown switch being depressed. This is often around 40-45MPH.

What gives? I can live with the "cold jerk" thing but these other issues are not what I expect from Mercedes engineering!

I'd take it back to the dealer and have it looked at. FWIW, I always control the shift points by hand with the lever, as the MB trannies are a little eager to upshift at part-throttle IMO. All in the name of fuel economy, I suppose. Oh, a lot of people have been VERY happy with Mobil-1 synthetic ATF in place of the usual dino fluid. Don't know if that would help your problem or not. I'm assuming the 60k service included a trans fluid & filter change, of course...
