Hey! How 'bout that?! Upon futher inspection, it certainly looks like that car didn't start life as an EVO II. Looks like an aftermarket job.

Yeah you have to be careful, there was one "Evo II" for sale on Ebay UK a few weeks ago, clearly a fake, and was wanting £15,000!!! for it. I hope no one fell for it!
I have a 190 Evolution (I won't call it a "One" because I don't think the factory called them "1"'s until the 2 came around!!! LOL. I've only had it about a month, Evo Racer made me buy it. I've had a few injection faults to fix but I just love this car. It's bloody rapid for a naturally aspirated 2.5 and just loves to rev. On my - OK - Evo 1 - cut out is 7,200rpm which is just pathetic, the car absolutely slams the rev limiter. Wants, needs more! The 2's had a what 7800 cutout I think. There are definitely quite a few changes in the engine dept. compared to a stock 2.5 than the short stroke/modded pistons lead u to believe, and I can tell you they were BS'ing about the HP ratings IMO. Typically conservative MB. Once I've sorted the injection I'm off to dyno mine because there's no way it's "only" got 200hp and mine is supposedly running like crap at the moment. I've owned two Mitsubishi Evo's with supposedly more HP and this feels just as quick if not quicker than my old Evo V. Now don't worry I'm not going to enter into the "kill" discussions... As for the handling and feel of the car it's pure racer. The car feels nervous at slow speeds, messing around, brakes (500 SL brakes) are very grabby at slow speeds, feel a bit nothing. First time you slam into a roundabout from 100mph you realise what the brakes are all about, smooth, progressive a delight. Basically if you're not thrashing the arse off the car it doesn't respond. The gearbox is the same, crap unless you have got some real heat in it then it's as good as the brakes. Handling is pretty awesome. The other night I went into this big roundabout near where I live, prob only doing 85ish but it was pissing down. Being a bit of a pussy I lifted off and had a "brown trouser" moment when the arse end shifted left. PS - just a bit of trivia. But as I've been pulling my interior apart I've found various MB stickers, parts codes etc and ALL of them call the car a 190 Sport Evolution. Now I know BMW used the "Sport" name I didn't know MB did. Silly I know but interesting to "touched" morons like me. Oh yeah, the 3 height level control is fun too. But I only put it on low at speeds over 80mph otherwise the ride is a bit harsh. |

You lucky ass UK EVO
I want an EVO I so bad. I really need to start working so that I can import one. 20K for the car, 10K for importation, and I would be the happiest guy on earth. revbond...please come on over to the 190 Revolution Forum I really want to hear your AMG exhaust. Hopefully you can make it to a future Bay Area meet. Later, Giancarlo
