3.200cc 24-valve

Hello ppl

I'm looking to upgrade my 3200 engine's (104.992) horsepower..

Can i fit a compressor or a turbo on this engine?
What else could i do to improve it's power?

Would a racing exchaust help?
What about air intake?

If you are talking about the 3.2 liter M104 motor, you are looking at 217 horsepower.
What specific car are you talking about?

Right. If it is a W124, must be a 1993 with the M104 motor, and it is 217 horsepower to start. Plenty of upgrdes you can do, depends on your wallet. Some think, including myself, that upgrading to the 400e/e420 is a better option for the performance gain.

My 2 cents.

I am led to believe that this engine breathes fairly well in its standard form, so I don't think exhaust and air filter will help so much. If it was me, I'd consider a turbo but you'd have to fabricate lots of extra parts I would be more likely to do a straight engine swap with a Mercedes V8. Not that easy to find, but you'd probably get quite a bit of money for your M104 engine.

Twin turbo, custom exhaust manifold, intercooler, new throttle bodies/fuel rail, new fuel management system . . . anything is possible with enough time and money! The more money you have, the less time it takes

contact mossleman, they probably have a turbo setup that will work on the motor.

I will have a Twin turbo kit for that car in August. Cost is $3800 for the complete kit and HP is expected to be in the 325~350 range depending on boost. With some additional work that engine has a potential of 450+ HP but you will probably be spending about $5000+

speedtek, does your twin turbo kit keep the car smog legal in all 50 states?

If so, It is definately something I want to shoot for. hopefully by then I will have enough cash saved up to take on this kind of project.

Emissions: You will have to check with your state. Most states it is legal as long as all emission controls remain in the same place and it can pass a smog test. California may be a bit of a problem.

M103 Hopefully June 03.
M102 August 03

no web site yet.

Mossel who?

And If I have the cash at the time, then I will work on it, nothing is set in stone, cause if I do it and can't pass california smog, its gonna be out the door for me....

Speedtek, or any one else that knows

do you know what the strength of the M104 bottom end is like. by this i mean how much boost do you think you could run in the engine with out having to modify the pistons or the cams , i guess what i am also asking is how much pressure the valves can handle, i know this question is pretty broad, concerning engines of different wear and also from different years.

also do you have any idea about how much more power the gear box can handle?

its just that i want to way up weather F.I. is going to be worth all the hassle, I have already rebuilt my old gear box once i'm not going to spend all that money to do it again.
