How can I increase the performance on my 300sd?

Note: I am assuming you are referring to a 1981-85 300SD, not the 1992-93 version. Anyway:

1) Test the car's performace from 0-60 on flat road with a stopwatch. Verify the speedo accuracy with a GPS if possible. It should be 15 seconds or faster. If so, forget big power gains - there isn't much to be had that won't blow up the motor. If it's slower, keep reading.

2) Post on the Diesel forum. Nobody cars about diesels on the Performace Paddock. You will get a LOT of response over there.

3) Post to the MBZ.org Diesel and/or DieselTech lists. Lots of help there too.

4) Trade up to a 1986/87 300SDL, which is faster (~12-13 sec 0-60), has a MUCH nicer engine, ABS, airbag, and a lot of other positive points.
