I've been thinking I would like to put a taller gear in my 89 190E, 2.6. The question I have is which gear would be best, (Parts availability, speedo calibration, etc.) and how can I reprogram my transmission to always start out in 1st gear instead of second as it now does. I can get it to launch in 1st by bringing the shifter to the far aft position and then back to drive before I pull out.

search for the tranny thing. someone on the forum can modify your valvebody to do it.
