I've had mine for nearly ten years. Still gets lots of looks, even in car-conscious Southern California. I must admit that the new E55, up close to 50% on HP and torque, is an immense tempatation, as is the RS6. Big horsepower has always been a draw for me.

An "OG" among us
Wow, that's great Jim.
You might just take the award for being the only "Original" owner among us. I know i for one didn't have the extra 30 large necessary to get a 500E when I got the 400E back in 92. Sure wish I could have though |

Actually, I didn't buy it new; it had about 15,000 miles on it. Taking the depreciation hit is something I'd like to avoid, generally, and the new car process here in SoCal is pretty unpleasant.
Over the course of the past ten years, I've been pretty lucky. There was a stretch in 1998-99 when I went through 3 power steering pumps--the technician told me they had quite a few in a bad batch from the pump supplier. It's been OK since. I've replaced my rear shocks, but beyond that the only issue is chasing the ASR light. Think I'm due for the wiring harness cha-cha, but I'll replace some of the little components that might make it go on first.

59,974. Almost ready for a major service. The miles per year is pretty low, since there have been a few other things to drive or ride.
