Not sure which Interstate battery you got, but I recently replaced my OE battery on mt E500 with an Interstate and it was a perfect fit.

So I walked down 2 flight of stairs just to get this info for you

The exact part number of my battery is MB88-60.

I paid about $110 give or take $5.

I can tell you for sure that this battery reaches all connections perfectly. When I stop by to return your tools and wire mesh you can check it out.

On the Interstate website it lists the MTP-93 (what DuckMuck got) and my MB88-60 as having the same dimensions. The only differnce is the CCA & CA.

I have a W124 E420 and this battery fits that also, so I am puzzled that DuckMuck's didn't fit, because it should. It sits right inside the battery trya nice and neat.

I will take a picture of my battery compartment and post it tomorrow (Thursday) because I won't be home until late tonight.

Stay tuned...

I like the "yellow top" deep cycle Optima at 880CCA. It's what I use in the C36 powered wagon.

I know the OPTIMA is too short for the 400E/500E battery-well, but I'll see if could still fit.

If the CL600's battery is sealed, I'd consider it, esp. since a "yellow top" deep-cycle Optima is about $150.

I've seen MB OE batteries made by VARTA (Germany) and Johnson Controls (USA). I have not seen them made by Interstate.

Cold Cranking Neil

Neil -

Might it be possible to use an Optima Yellow Top with reversed posts (swapped + and - positions) in a 500E/E500?

Please take and post pictures of your "experiment."

You guys want me to take a pic of the battery in my car. Its a perfect fit.

Neil I kid you not. the interstate battery guy comes like once a week to the dealers. They now manufacture MB batteries.

Scott M. The black battery is great. IOt might be a little cheaper than the optimum

Talk to you guys later.

Guido

Guido

Are you saying that the CL600 (OEM Mercedes-Benz) "black battery" is made by Interstate?

For how much does your shop sell them (just to get a ballpark idea)?

What is the MBZ part #, please?

OK...take a pix...I am interested...I thought all M-B's use the same Group 49 battery pretty much...

From my understanding, Interstate is also a distributor. They even carry Optima batteries.

Guido- is the CL600 battery "sealed"/maint. free?
