500E Center Console

Anyone out there replaced the center console cover on their 500E?
My vinyl has some small cuts in it and really doesn't match the rest of the interior very well. I think I would rather get a new cover than try to dye it to match. If there is a good way to fix small cuts (some are in the cover as it wraps around the opening of the roll top slider - they may be under too much stress around the edges to patch?)

I may be dying the whole interior this summer to fix a well worn drivers seat. After Scott's (RUN.EXE) experience with Leatherique, I have decided to give it a try.

I'll be leatheriquing 3 cars int he next couple of months. My car, My dad's rolls, the entire interior, and his range rover front seats.

Scotts job on his benz, convinced my dad that leatherique and having me do it was worthwhile.

Man I can't wait to strip out the interior of the rolls!!!! hehe

I purchased all the leatherique products I will need to redo my interior today. Probably won't start for a while, I am removing my dead security system and pondering the stereo and any other interior (A/C) modifications I might want to make while I have things torn apart.

Scott - Any advice on application techniques? Spray ?

application

The key is the PREPARATION; do this well, and brush application should be fine.

Spraying will likely delay completion, as you will have to apply many coats; however, if you are not going to do a 2-tone scheme, it should be fine. If you do spray, TAKE THE SEATS OUT OF THE CAR, first!!!

Thanks Scott

Seats are definitely coming out.

Where did you get your carpet set?

I really need to spring for a new one, unless yours is in really nice shape.
Cream/parchment wasn't it?

I really need the front passenger area (sides and footwell) and complete rear section.

carpet

I bought a brand new/complete carpet kit from my local dealership; however, one front piece
(which covers the passenger door's floor entry-way) is not available ANYWHERE, so I will have
to have one made...

My old carpet was kind of ratty, so I tossed it!

Scott,

Did you try sourcing that carpeting for, say, a 300D? 400E?

Thanks Scott !

I have the same ratty front right side...holes are torn near the pins.

Hirshauto.com has the raw carpet by the yard.

I find it interesting that there are no little pieces available....just the molded items.

About what did you pay from the dealer for the front pieces, tunnel and rear section?

carpet kit cost

If I recall, correctly, the total cost for all the carpet items was around $500 - $600 - NOT including floor mats (which I still need).

Got a Quote...

Part Requested:
Carpet set for Parchment/cream interior.

Front footwells--Lt footwell carpet Germany $ 208.00. Rt.carpet Germany $144.00
Front Transmission Tunnel--Lt trans tunnel carpet Germany $ 62.00. Rt carpet Germany $ 77.00
Front Door Sill Carpet--Lt door sill carpet Local $ 19.00. Rt. door sill carpet Local $ 23.00

Rear Section--Carpet Germany $ 424.00

MBTex Cover for center console 124 680 47 17 ?--Local $ 60.00
B-Pillar for drivers side (left)--Local $ 276.00

I imagine the headliner will be spendy too....

This all came from a MBDealer that advertises as offering 20% or better discounts.

One other quote on the console cover was $75.

Scott - I did note that the dealer had the front door sill items in stock.
