'95 E320 (W124) Gas Mileage
My 1995 E320 Sedan gets about 13mpg. Should I be worried? I do about 70% City/30% Highway Driving. My fuel filter has been changed recently. I have always used Chevron Premium, noted the cleanest gas in my area. Is there anything else I can do to increase my gas mileage? Thanks.

>tune up
>proper tire inflation pressures >driving style imho- 17mpg average is quite low for city driving in such a W124 -fad '94 E320 Coupe '94 E500 '92 300E 2.6 |
That sounds really low, I am getting ~21-24 on the same ratio of hw/local driving. Sounds like new plugs or coli replacement. Start with the obvious, check air pressure.

Thanks everyone. I took it in to my mechanic, and he said the O2 (Oxygen) Sensor was completely dead. He replaced and I am now actually getting a rhythm. Burning pure fuel might just have a little to do with the bad gas mileage  As soon as a full tank runs through, i'll post my new gas mileage. I am already noticing a huge difference.

FWIW, a huge drop in fuel economy is 99% of the time caused by a bad O2 sensor.

Hmm... I thought when the O2 sensor went out, the check engine light goes on. Was yours on? Probably not, as you probably would have mentioned it.

No, my Check Engine light was not on. However, when I start my car, it does flash to indicate the bulb is working. Thanks
