500E Roof Antenna

Does anyone know if the roof antenna was a standard piece?
I had a cell phone hook up, but I don't think it was stock.
I believe the car did not have the MB phone.
There is a small 2" antenna centered on the roof near the rear window. The coax cable was unique (Hirshman USA) but appeared to have silver connections and be very high grade.

I found some pretty ugly torn sheet metal (1/2") around the are
where the antenna was installed when I removed the headliner.
(replacing that with a factory item this week too-not sure if I can
add more sound dampening material as there isn't much room up there) Found a minor amount of corrosion (water scale) at the sunroof flex shaft connection point, plan to address that today.

FYI the factory antenna is cell phone ready. You may need an adapter to plug in (install places are familiar with the adapter; it's used for VW applications too) and a mechanism to tell the antenna to erect, but that's what I've used on my 500E.

Hey Micheal,
I wish you would have told that to the guy weilding the large drill bit 10 years ago !

I can't believe they drilled a hole in the roof to install this thing.
Didn't do it very cleanly, didn't take any precautions for rust!

Thankfully it was pretty well sealed, but there was some rust
that had to be cleaned up....
