H&R's on C43
Hi all!
I'm thinking of installing H&R progressive rate springs on my AMG. These springs will lower the car about 1.5" all around. Does anyone have any experience with this modification? I'm hoping to lower the car to euro spec's to make it look, IMHO, much better and to improve high speed cornering ability. I've heard from Benz mechanics and some enthusiasts that lowering an AMG car is a very bad idea, since messing the with designed spring travel will render the car undully harsh and cause trammeling. Is this so? What do you think: Current Mods: Two Piece Five spoke AMG (A203 400 1302, 17x8.5 ET 34) wheels with Dunlop's at all four corners; Ramfx foam racing filters (replaced the K&N's); Burl wood center arm rest and burl wood door handles; Burl AMG shift knob; AMG hood badge to replace star; and AMG stainless racing pedals. Arriving in 5 days, one Euro Comand w/ Nokia digital phone system. Car came with every other available option.

I currently have my C43 lowered with the H&R spring set. Personally, I love them. I noticed that the H&R's were slightly stiffer than m stock springs, because there was less dive when I hit my breaks. The ride feels like stock to me. I decided not to replace my shocks when I got the springs, but now I am going to step up to some adjustables.
I have the~1.5 inch spring with a #1 and #2 spring pad, and am using 18 inch Monoblocks. Total lowering is close to 2 inches. I have no problems rubbing and have full turning capabilities (no fender problems). One thing, since my shocks are worn, there is some rubbing on the inside wheel well plastic protector. Once I get new shocks, this rub shouldnt be a problem, and it only rubs on medium to large dips in the road. Feel free to ask me any q's. DLS Here's a pic:
