W124 front camber prob after lowering

Hi All,

It appears most of the members of this forum has lowered their cars, but after reading the posts, NONE seem to have problems with front camber adjustments like I do. In addition, I've seen pictures of cars in this forum that have been slammed real low.

My car isn't slammed with about a 2-finger gap in front. Can someone suggest a fix for my problem.

Do I need thicker pads, additional parts like bushings, an alignment specialist, or front camber adjustment is just too limited for my model year.

Thanks in advance,

Details please....what is your camber now? What problems have you experienced? Have you done an archive search on some of the front camber adjustment devices discussed in earlier threads?

front camber

Here are my current settings as per the printout...

LF camber -.9 deg
RF camber -1.5
LR camber -2.5
RR cabmer -2.6

The car just wants to go left and my tires are wearing slightly inwards...

thanks,

After lowering your car, the best thing to do is to get a chassis alingment. Its a little costly($250 in Miami,FL) but think of that as money you will be saving from repeatedly having to buy tires.

chassis?

I'm not sure what you mean. My car's never been in an accident. I was hoping someone would tell me to raise it up a bit up front or modify the camber adjuster. Please clarify chassis alignment.

thanks,

I would suggest you find a good alignment shop. My car has been lowered, and I am within specs front and rear, and I have roughly 1.5 to 2 finger gap.

Perhaps you have some bad bushings or something in your suspension, or the alighment shop is not good at aligning benzes.

Less than -1.5 deg(on the front) isn't going to shorten the tire life by much at all.

ON the rear you need the kmac cams/bushings to bring the camber back to -1.4/-1.8deg.

The rear numbers look normal, you won't get much better without the Kmac bushings. The front numbers look off left to right... they should be closer. But about -1 is normal, why are you trying to "fix" that?

Tip: The ONLY place I ever take my Mercedes is to the dealer. To align it properly, a spreader bar MUST be used to pre-load the suspension while setting toe, and there's a screw to lock the steering box on center as well. No other shop will have a clue about this. Tell the dealer you want it set to "Sportline" specs, that will compensate for the lowered suspension. Should turn out fine, and NOT pull left or right. If it does, swap tires around - tires can cause pulling even when the suspension is PERFECT! BT, DT...

Good luck,

Did you have your car aligned after? usually after you lower your car it tends to go toe-out. toe-out causes the car to pull all over the place.
