new Rotor's for a 95 c280
Hi,
I have a c280 from 95 that is going to need new rotors at the next check up and was hoping to get a list of good rotors / pads to put on that would improve my breaking without having to get new wheels; i have 15 inch wheels. . I do a lot of highway driving with a lot of high speed slowdowns..Say 100 to 75, or 60 to 30 due to traffic, and I've been noticing that the breaks have some vibration at the higher speeds when I get on em. . Does anyone have any suggestion for higher performance break rotors/pads that will improve my breaking performance. Thanks David

OK, I admit it..I'm lost..??
What is the difference and best between these Front disks?? ATE (Teves) ATE Power Disc $ Brake Disc X-Drilled Zimmerman Cross Drilled Brake Disc Balo And what is the best out of the rear Balo or Zimmerman? and If I get the best: (I would assume the zimmerman since its the most expensive), what pads should I get??? Thanks David

Go With the Crossdrilled Zimmerman and a Good Low Dust Pad.
Porterfield/PBR/Mintex great pads that wear great stop great ..Low Dust..Also Install a Set of braided flex hoses to firm up the brake pedal... The OE paes are soft and Throw Lots of Brake Dust! ..Dont Forget to flush the brake system with a Good Fluid ... |

I have a '94 C280 with 123,000 kms and recently installed a set of four Brembo cross-drilled rotors and a set of Pagid brake pads. The brakes seem more communicative, with a better sense of feel as I apply them. That is just as likely because with new pads and rotors I don't have to apply as much pressure to get the pads to contact the rotors. It feels like it stops better, but I find that the Pagid pads, which have a higher coefficient of friction, squeak the first few times I brake, until they've warmed up a bit. I like the look of the cross-drilled rotors, which are more visible as I use the 16" rims from a CLK instead of the 15" rims that came with the car.
If you do a lot of constant, heavy braking you might find that the cross-drilled rotors are more resistant to brake fade as they disipate the heat and gasses better. Jonathan |
