All you 500E & E500

!.Ok guys. I want some feed back. On all you guys and gal front seats. Do the lumbar hug up against your ribs snugly or loosly.

2. Is your bottom seat cushion worn out can you barely feel any support.

3. On the seatbackrest where your talbone would meet. Doest it feel soft or bottom out.

The reason I am, asking is I feel the guy who was the previous owner or the first onwer was a heavy person, because I feel my cushions are bottomed out. My back hurts on long distance trips.

I ordered new seat cushions there coming from germany.

i am installing them this week.

I had Daesun car last week his lumbars hug around my rib cage.
good.

Ok keep up the good work out there.

Later guido

Mine hugs me.

Were you able to get the correct pad for the heating elements?

Last time I heard they were No Longer Available (NLA).

If not, please post pn#'s.

Thanks,
:-) neil

Well, at least I know mine are ok. BTW, Guido, thanks so much for another job well done. She drives like a dream, better than when I bought her. I swear she pulls harder than ever, and the shifts are smoother and quicker. All I need is those wheels and I'll be a happy guy. Let me know when you and Brad get your new toys.

For anyone who doesn't know already, Guido is the man when it comes to the 500E/E500. Thanks to him, my '94 runs like new and will probably do so for at least another 100k miles.

Funny you should start this thread now! I've just been talking to an upholstery shop about putting on new seat covers and adjusting the cushion padding and the lumbar support. My butt is sore and my lower back aches on long trips. The seat is not worn out - the passenger seat feels the same. It's just not shaped right for my body. It needs more lumbar padding. I'm thinking 3/4" - 1" more bottom pad and 3/4" more lumbar pad centered on the crease between the second and third segments up from the bottom of the seat back. We're talking $1,900 installed for the new cover sets and padding adjustments for both front seats. In fact, I just dropped off my Chevy Tahoe this morning for seat cushion repairs to try the guy out. Waddya think?

Greetings- on my car the lumbar fits tight against my sides and the bottom cushioning is not worn (mere 42.9k on the car).

Mark- I think the $1900 is reasonable and fair if the work is done to MB OE quality and appearance. I'm aware that bulk MB leather is very very very expensive.

Be sure to select the highest quality foam and of the density that fits your preference, do a few test fits on the seat w/ custom cut and w/ the replacement leather between you and the pad to obtain a good sense of the shaping. Be sure the leather is MB- nothing else wears like it according to a few upholstery shops I've acquired info from myself.

Good luck and let us know what turns out.

Guido, Hi! I'm working with Trim Line on PCH in Redondo Beach. My leather on the driver's seat is worn through the color finish on the left side bolster, and the stitching is threadbare in that area. I assume that's cause for replacement, not repair. Then I thought I'd replace both front seat covers for aesthetics' sake. But I'm most interested in improving comfort. Can I see pics of your seats disassembled? Or can I see them myself?

-fad, His catalog shows a complete front seat upholstery set - 500E specific, including armrest and headrests - but I don't know if that means it is MB leather. Does MB stock hides, or are we talking an OEM scenario?

179K+ miles and no problems with the seats breaking down.

In fact, I am simply amazed that my body does not feel tired after driving long distances in the Merc unlike most other cars.

Guido, you must have had a heavy PO.

Hi Mark- I've been told that the real deal OEM leather in bulk is available through industry supplier(s) and >>>even at wholesale it rivals the cost of connolly.

MB OEM leather within the auto upholstery industry is commonly thought of in the highest regard in terms of its quality and durability...hence that top shelf cost (even at wholesale).

I would ask your shop if this is OEM leather to be sure and get that statement in writing to fall back on.

I've seen 6.3's and 3.5 cab's owners with supposedly 'no expense spared' OEM interior leather replacement / restoration- complete with seat rebuilding...soon they bore the signs of non OEM inferior hydes/dye

hope this helps

request

My seats are just fine, comfort-wise; however, I would like to request, please, that someone post
itemized part #s for the 500E/E500 interior (leather) pieces, below:

- front seat covers (lowers, uppers, and head-rests)
- rear seat covers (lowers, uppers, and head-rests)

I would like to buy new seat covers, sooner than later, to complete the look of my restoration/rennovation.

RSVP / Thank you,

Can you post images of Gahh's product? Do their leather seat covers look OEM? Quality?

My seat fits me snugly, and there is no sinking on the bottom pad.
I just drove down to Carmel and back this week, and I was really comfortable.

GUIDO! U Need to eat more Canolies!

I just got off da horn wit my North End Connection if yous knows wad I means. He says: "Get rid of the Kraut machine and snatch yoself a Caddy Sedan DeVille to pamper your skinny Italian Butt wit" but Fhat the Wuck does he know".

I just got back from a 64 minute 90 mile round tripper (60 mi of super macadam and 30 mi of S and reverse S curve roads with more patches than roads) My ass feels just fine and it is prolly just as bony as your uhm watchamacallit. The seats look and feel the same as the day they left Tuckittoyastrasser.de with 38,240 on the clock with a Bowden Cable a bit out of wack or a Slappenz2ndgear vacuum leak somewhere.

Still got those 18 AMG 2 piecers??

Tom
