Flash: ''I am just reporting my experience with the AEM CAI I have, no more, no less. You seem to know a lot about CAI. Tell me what CAI experience you have on your car so I can be enlightened.''
My experience: 35 years of playing with high performance and racing cars, from a 4 cylinder Mini Cooper 1275cc to a V-10, 8 liters Viper and a few dozens in between. I am only trying to tell you that your ''experience'' is only an impression, a feeling or a belief and your experience can not be sustained by anyone with only basic mechanical knowledge. There is NO relationship between an air intake system and engine RPM at 60 or 70MPH (or 35 or 350MPH). If you engine ingest 500CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air, RPM at 60mph will be, say, 3000RPM. Install a revised air intake that will accept 800CFM (or 8000CFM) , your engine RPM will still be 3000RPM at 60mph. Not one RPM more, not one RPM less. An other example: Your tires complete approx. 700 revolutions per miles. A new air intake system will not change the number of revolution per mile for your tires (nor for your engine) If you agree with this, you will agree your previous statement did not make sense. jackD |

You forgot one thing in the equation...he added a v-tech sticker to his window...which we all know is worth 20hp and 2 sec's off in the quarter mile

Sorry, I forgot about the V-tech sticker.
But I was under the impression that this sticker added 21 HP if installed in the right rear window, and only 19 HP if installed in the right front windows. JackD |

Your right...I clearly don't understand the HP dynamics that such a sticker causes....
But I am happy to know that if you put more air into a motor...it will spin slower..... If that was really the case, should all cars come with 1000cfm carbs on them? even the little 4 bangers? |

Jackd and conversekid, No, I put my sticker right on the intake tube and that gives me another 3hp. Jackd, with all your car experience you don't recognize that VTEC is not a sticker for CAI, but the trademark of Honda which developed the VTEC in their racing experience. I have the VTEC engine in my Acura, but no VTEC sticker anywhere. Honda does not have VTEC stickers because Honda is afraid that some people may think it is a CAI sticker

Flash: I know exactly what VTECH is. Did you know what VTECH means:
V ariable valve T iming and E lectronic lift C ontrol by H onda. This has nothing to do with CAI. I don't know what a VTECH and a CAI sticker would do to my car (I am afraid to try) but I do know it would not change my RPM at 60pmh. A 1000CFM carb. on a 4 cyl. engine would probably result in a serious case of hyperventilation. Very risky. jackD |
