Mike, if you do a Google search on VIN codes, I think you'll find which denotes the Country, Make, Factory, Chassis, and check numbers.

You mean you want to know what the breakdown is for a VIN number? What the individual letters and numbers represent?

There is lots of good info here:

http://www.autobaza.pl/ab/en/web/productaa0100

You can also plug in your own VIN, and it will tell you what all the digits mean...

That VIN decoder is wrong. It doesn't even recognise an
ml vin with wdc instead of wdb. In other words, db or dc does not specify the manufacturer

Daimler-Benz versus Daimler-Chrysler perhaps?

Hmmmmmm, I thought all ML's were 4JG. Maybe not if they were assembled in Europe instead of Vance.

The decoder worked for me on both of my TDs. The question about ML vin numbers, go to e-bay look up a ML and see what the vin numbers start with. WDC would definetly be Daimler-Chrysler.

I'd be wary about any VIN# checker. They might be "harvesting" our VIN#'s for illicit purposes or to FIND your car and take it away if there's a market for it . . .
