Having spent a summer back in the UK swanning about in a 928 GTS, I can only say that the seats were good news for local chiropractors.

Thing went like stink, but the birds would always complain about the hassle of getting in and out of the thing. They always preferred the 560SEC I had!

I agree that getting in/out is tough, just like any sports car. The worst part is people tend to hang on to the A pillar or roof, and with a black car you all know the result. Got to the point that I never wanted a passenger!

The seats are awesome though. I drove 928s as an only car from 1987 until around 2000 and the seats are the most comfortable I've ever been in. You can drive all day with no problems. Totally different than the seats in either of my Mercedes.

Ouch, Tony's reserve was high. It didn't meet the reserve at $43,500.

Super SEC,
I am not sure if you are aware, but my family is one of the largest Mercedes Dealers in Florida, as long as probably the most prestigious Porsche dealership in the country. My dad is CEO/co owner of Brumos Motorcars, my godfather is Hurley Haywood most winningest endurance driver ever...The list goes on. And from my "little" experience with Mercedes, we Will work on RENNTech parts AS THEY ARE the ONLY tuning company to comply with Mercedes Warranties. A RENNTech Automobile maintains factory warranty. They are the only tuning company which MB approves. That is a fact. As far as us working on them, it is the same as working on any car. My car is a completely built RENNTech w124, my dads car is a built 03 S55, and my Moms is a built SL55. All under warranty, and all easily serviceable by any mechanic. Brumos is a authorized RENNTech dealer, and the reps from MBUSA walk by our large RENNTech stand, and MBUSA knows of course that we are a RENNTech dealer. Why would a company risk their franchise for a little tuning company? This is why RENNTech cars caqn hold their value unlike Kleeman on HPS, because they are factory authorized. You are just as safe buying a new RENNTech SL55 with 600HP as you are buying a stock SL55, just a difference in money. I am not at all trying to be a jerk, I think we both just misundrstood each others incentives. I have learned about the 928 from you, and hopefully you got some new insight into RENNTech and mercedes.

hms59,

According to Renntech, their own warranty covers their parts for the duration of the manufacturers warranty and if it is out of warranty they cover the Renntech modified part for 24 months. They will only pay for labor on the warranty if the repair is done in a Renntech authorized shop and the installation was done in a Renntech authorized shop.

What I am saying is that RENNTech is an authorized tuner of Mercedes Benz as appointed by Mercedes AG. Their products are covered under warranty, of course, during the duration of the manufactured warranty, as is the warranty on all other aspects of the car. THUS, no matter what you break, except tires, brake pads......will be covered under a warranty. And for cars out of warranty, like any used car, will have a limited warranty on it. So, all aspects of a car are maintained under warranty. I have never had to experience gettting my car worked on by a non authorized dealer, but maybe you are right. On the other hand, you can bring a RENNTech car to a non authorized dealer and it will maintain factory warranty. So that is no issue unless you are having major engine problems, and if so, chances are you arent worried about the cost to ship your car to an authorized shop.

Run, I will post some pics of my car, as you have seen it( BNZSport, my name is Whostoleharris? I have a red 300ce-24 with red renntech wheels, 500E body, full engine conversion....I know you know my car man!!!

After 21 years, I sold my 74 911 Carrera Targa last fall complete with modified 930 turbo motor. Reading this thread was almost as exciting as driving my dearly departed friend.

With that having been said, I must now either take a nap or go smoke a cigarette.

But first my 500E will have to take me home.

Thanks for letting me vicariously play.

Dwight
