I trust there will be photo galleries and perhaps feature articles as well? Either way, I'm there.

Yes; it will feature a standard vBulletin/MySQL/PHP infrastructure and sections for all tastes/inclinations.

...well, ALMOST all tastes/inclinations.

Careful...

Scott. I have followed this post.

I have always enjoyed your posts and insight, especially with the way you find unique parts and soforth.

However,

When you visit other sites aimed at the MB consumer, EVERY single site owner has been a member of my site.

You see, I started this site in Feb'99 and most other people that have started other MB sites have been members and posted here to steal the members Bill and I have worked for over the past 4.5 years.

I won't stand for this.

So, for now, this post will stay. If it gets too commercial.....POOF>

Benzmac,

I understand where you are coming from. I am sure Scott will respond soon, but I wanted to say this. I don't believe it is Scptt's intent to steal members from Mercedesshop but share members, specifically the 500E500 members. Scott is a 500E500 nut and his site appears to be solely dedicated to the 124.036 unlike Mercedesshop where there are so many different types of MB's .

Donnie

Thank you for your reply/opinion/viewpoint, Donnie.

Long time no hear (the last time we exchanged messages, you were explaining how/why it was infeasible for you to trade parts or compensate me, financially, for my designing a logo for you/mercedesshop.com (no hard feelings), on 09APR03.

I understand and respect your protective stance; however, I must qualify/clarify/assert a few things:

1) It is not my goal to have an all-things-Mercedes website; I plan to set up a 500E/E500 *ONLY* (W124-036) site.

2) I am a CIO/IT Director/Network Engineer, by trade; whether or not I ever joined mercedesshop.com is irrelevant, as I belong to numerous forums (as do most members); "stealing" is too unkind/inaccurate a term. The analogies which support said claim are nearly endless. I am neither your employee nor your business partner (nor am I even your "competitor," though I am saddened to be forced to infer as much per your direct, seemingly pending accusation). I have been a Mercedes-Benz owner and enthusiast longer than your domain has existed, to be fair. The Internet is big enough for us both, I am certain. No need to blow a head gasket, my friend ("POOF," indeed).

3) You generate (I must imagine) a substantial amount of income from mercedesshop.com; to the contrary, I have ZERO plans to sell parts, have companies sponsor my forum(s), post advertisements for profit, and/or solicit membership fees. Simple and plain, I wish to broaden the playing field by affording some VARIETY.

4) I will *continue* to feature links to your site and other forums on ALL my sites... until otherwise advised/instructed. I have NEVER asked you to return the favor. I would appreciate a little credit where due...

5) Neither you nor ANYONE "owns" the Internet - or any of the interests/lures/communities/resources it has spawned/generated.

6) ANY and ALL members/moderators of this forum can and will attest to my sense of fairness and goodwill; shall I start a poll? I request and provide information. It is die-hard members such as myself that keep your forum alive... unless I am missing something. I am not a "lurker;" I am one of your most active and recognized members (a good and bad thing, I suppose).

Per the above, I will remain a member (in good standing) of your forum, until otherwise notified. If you decide to "evict" me, for personal reasons, that is certainly your business. I am neither a lawyer nor have I any interest in splitting hairs/debating First Amendment rights, et cetera (ad nauseam); however, I must conclude that I have been nothing short of your ally, thus far. I have referred literally dozens of users to merceddesshop.com (almost on a daily basis), for which I have asked nothing in return.

If the thought of other forums popping up here and there gives you pause/disquiets your demeanor... well, that is both unfortunate and unhealthy.

I hope we can remain friends and co-exist; life is hard enough, as is (especially these days) without added insult/injury/confrontation. I certainly mean you/your business no offense or harm. Notwithstanding, if you insist that I remove myself from your domain, please say so; I will do so immediately if not sooner. Please be aware, though, that friendships I have formed will remain. People will do as they please, of their own volition. It is precisely that freedom of choice/lifestyle for which I proudly served (and will continue to serve, if/when needed) my Country.

As ever, sincerely and with my kind regards,

- Scott M. Shell

I DID NOT MEAN IT THAT WAY.

DAMN. I THOUGHT I GAVE PEOPLE A COOL PLACE TO HANG OUT, TALK ABOUT CARS AND HAVE FUN.

I guess I am due a good bashing/flaming on my own ****ing website seeing how I was always the one taking the high road and trying to keep it clean.

As you can tell, yes, I am pissed. I have agreed to leave the posts. Why not leave it alone?

Why not leave it alone?

Good evening, Donnie.

I hope you're having a pleasant weekend.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I honestly don't follow you; why, exactly, are you pissed?
To what did anyone ask you to agree? I haven't asked you for anything - ever - I never will.

As per "keeping it clean," shall I infer that you suddenly deem my content "dirty" or "offensive" to ANY audience?
If so, HOW/WHY is a 500E/E500 dedicated website "immoral" or "low-brow???" I'm NOT a pornographer, my friend!

Nobody "flamed" you, believe me. I certainly did not. Neither was I negative nor vulgar in any of my posts; to the contrary, I merely responded to your (overly assertive/aggressive, initial) post. If you are resolute in your intent to criticize/level pointed accusations, please be prepared for and respectful of my right to a thorough and conclusive rebuttal.

I'm as cool as a cucumber (as I was before your post) to leave things "as they were" before all this (whatever-it-is).

Peace to you, my friend. Let's just drop this whole thing, shall/may we?

Though unnecessary, I will even go so far as to add this, as a gesture of goodwill/analgesic:

I will not personally mention/post *anything* about any of my other websites here (on mercedesshop.com) *EVER* again.
Moreover, if you prefer that I remove mercedesshop.com links from all my sites, just say the word and I will gladly comply.

It has never been my intent to incur being branded "persona non grata" (by you or anyone else for that matter); however, if you have decided (in the last 48 hours) that you don't deem me worthy of your disk-space, rest assured that it represents no stick in my spokes.

Again, despite any oddity/foundation in obscurity, I will be happy to comply with any request you decide to make.

Truly, (still) your friend,

- Scott M. Shell

PS -
Forr added good measure, this week, I will design a logo for mercedesshop.com, free of charge.
Just give me 5-7 days, please, and I will e-mail it to you for your review - no problem.
