Austin- if you already can induce ABS with your 500E calipers, 600SL calipers will NOT stop you any sooner.
Install the AMG fender spacer kit, or just a stack of washers or PVC, and you can run 245's in the front. That's what I'm going to do once I wear down my 225's. :-) neil |

You mean that you are going to put 245s on your wagon?
Ok, The fender spacers are already installed. The fender lips are rolled very handsomley. Do you think that 245/40/18s will fit in the front? Maybe I should try it and see if they clear. With the eibach springs I had in there, they 225s rubbed. Now I have AMG springs, which raised the car a little and I am not having much of a rubbing problem. I had 255/35/18 in the back, but michelin doesnt make that size, so I went with 245/40/18 in the back. 225/40/18 is what I have had in the front the whole time. My point is to put on bigger brakes. Thats why I have the wheels I do, because I know that they will clear 500E, and Sl600 brakes.

What profile and what rim dimensions? Offsets are you going to try.

Exactly. That's what I meant, that if you got wheels with a higher ET number, you would have less rubbing, and/or be able to fit wider rubber. 235 section width up front on a standard 124 is not a problem with proper offset wheels. 245 is starting to push your luck, particularly if the car is much lower than an inch below stock. Your wheels are correct offset for a 500E - not a standard 124.

BTW, Austin, you might wanna update your signature in your profile to include your 124. I'm always scratching my head when I see 300CD down there!

Gsxr, I dont want to have a long signature, so I just put down my daily driver. Hope thats ok. I really have 3 mercedes, and 6 mercedes in my family, and I cant remember how many cars total, but Im sure everytime people read my posts they dont want to scroll through all my cars.
Back the brakes. I put the 500E brembo brakes on the front. Those stop faster than the ATE 500E calipers. I am impressed. I am going to keep the brembo ones on my car. Thanks for the replies, if anyone has 600SL brakes let me know.
