W140 Headlights – Sedan or Coupe?

Hey guys,

Is there any/much of a difference between the headlights on the W140 sedan vs. the couple? What about US vs. Euro xenon pattern?

I found this SITE and see that there are a variety of lights available. For example the sedan euro xenons have H1 high beams, and the coupe euro xenons have H7 highs.

I want people to think the space shuttle is landing every time I drive by...whats my best bet?

Hi. Are you asking about the headlight assembly itself or just the bulb?
The W140 Coupe uses a completely different headlight assembly than the sedan... they are not interchangeable.
My 1996 Coupe uses an H4 (American 9003) bulb. Not sure what bulb is used in the sedan.
Hope this helps.

I was wondering if the coupe headlights could be installed on the S-class sedans (even with slight modification). If that were the case, then which headlamp assembly provides the best output. But apparently coupe headlights don’t fit sedans.

here is a new question, are the W140 S-class sedans headlights similar to the 1994/1995 W124 E-class sedans? And by that I mean are they interchangeable...because they seem to look similar in design. Wouldnt it be nice to have euro-spec xenon from the s-class on an e-class? Mission Control, here I come.

the w140 lights will NOT fit the w124.

the lenses are reglazable with euro lenses [unless they were epoxyed].

the u.s. and euro lenses are quite similar.

you can buy euro clear indicators for a fresher look.

is there a problem with your light output or do you just want to improve?

perhaps a relay for them?

Nope, I was just mainly curious to know if the W140 headlights were interchangeable between coupes and sedans. I tossed in the W124 question because from the pictures I have seen of the W140 sedan headlights, they appear similar to those on 94-95 W124s. IF they were interchangeable, then wouldn’t it be cool to slap a set of euro xenon W140’s on an E-class…but alas.
