400 E performance chip and altitude
I live in Denver, and want to install a chip. When I bought my car used, I started having trouble with it idling properly during the winter months. My mechanic suggested I switch from 91 octane to 87, since they add a lot of alcohol to the higher octane during the winter here to reduce emissions. (And reduce gas mileage by 10%!) Switching gas worked great to solve the idle problem, but now I can't get any of the chip manufacturers to give me any help with the alcohol/octane challenge.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a shop in the Denver/Boulder area that does this work? I am worried I will install a new chip, and I either won't get the performance because of the 87 octane, or I will have idling problems again if I go to 91 octane. Thanks - Mike (In smog free Denver.......)
