I Just Got Laid Off 40 Minutes Ago!!!

NO JOKE!!!

My (now EX-)employer is TANKING faster than the Exxxxxon Valdez! T minus two-zero minutes until my last day as a full-time employee ends
(and I become an on-the-clock con$ultant).

GOD BLESS AMERICA.

No worries, though. I'll be working (for Sony) on a huge Playstation 3 project (which I'm nondisclosed to discuss) for the next 3 years!!!!
YESSSSSSS!!!! It's a personal RECORD for me: fired and hired within a 3 hour window!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

My apologies for this being in the wrong forum, but my time is LIMITED before I have to "go ahead...and... vacate" my cube ("hmmm-KAY")?!

The following domains will be up/visible again NLT 1800 hours PDT MON 29SEP03, after DNS changes propagate across the Internet:

nemonis.net
nemonis.com
500Ecstasy.com
W124-036.com

Thank you and have a nice weekend / STAY EMPLOYED,

arent you supposed to have a few days' notice or something?

I thought it was just an attention grabber, something like doc amg did with that "sick dad" bit.

hope it doesn't put a crimp on your 500's R&D!

so, just what are you doing for the Playstation 3 project? (I know, i know, you said you couldnt discuss it, but maybe just a few clues?)

Or is it "I could tell you, but then i'd havta shoot you. Or run you over with the 500."

Bummer on losing your old job, but congrats on landing the new job right away!

At my old job, one of my co-workers got laid-off at noon, and by the end of the day had already received an offer at another company doing similar work.

Hey, BTW, I still need to mail back to you the owner's manual for the Nakamichi head unit that your girlfriend has in her car (MB-70 ????). It is still at my installer's shop.

Allot of displaced IT people these days, with the fall of all the .dot com's, it has left the current market full of semi-qualified paper MCSE's that the rest of us have to deal with for opportunities.

Most IT jobs pull 300+ resumes, allot to sift through if your a hiring manager.

Glad you picked up another position as the current down time (for laid off or terminated IT folks) is 12+ plus months to land a new position.

thanks, everyone!

I appreciate the cameraderie; I am fine and I just wanted to let everyone know that all my websites/domains are all back online and 100% functional. I have relocated my webserver.

Thank you for your patience / have a nice weekend!

I was a sysadmin in the mid-90's -- Only cert was a useless MCSE, it was all on the job experience/trial by fire. Well, like "run" those days abruptly ended 2 years ago but on my terms. Now I'm back in school looking at being a DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) in about 3.5 yrs. A non-trad'l student so-to-speak.
You'd be surprised how many ex-technology people are looking into the heathcare field!

the goal

My ultimate goal is to make films/publish (Hasselblad) medium format photographs, MUCH SOONER than later.

All this hard-core Cisco and Microsoft $%^& is just a means to an end, believe me; it gets VERY old VERY quickly!
