M103 piston bore/stroke

I have heard that you can increase the size of you bore by 1mm to 89.5.

I'f i wanted to change the stroke to implement a similar engine as AMG did, could i use the old 6 cylinder diesel crank? or would I be throwing away money? should I just stick to doing the rebore when i rebuild, and then put a turbo/kompressor of the motor.

Open to any sugestions or opinions thats, why i wrote the message.

If you put a turbo in don't be concerned with increasing the bore or stroke. Actually you would be making the cylinder bore thinner, not a good idea when using forced induction. The metal there helps in dissipating heat and strength of the block. Money is better spent on a good fuel and turbo system for mild applications than on machine work and stroking the short block.

Just a note, You want to minimize rod length to stroke for long term reliability. Especially in a performance engine. This become more evident when or if detonation occurs over large rod angles on the crank, increasing the likely hood of damaging the short block with a bent/broken rod.

so is it a good idea to get the top halve ta breath more freely by porting/polishing and blueprinting the head, intake and exhaust for turbo application ? what about the cam lift and duration ?

Use the stock cam profile. Performance cams are designed for naturally aspirated cars and typically have more overlap in the exhaust intake timing. This allows is not a prefered cam profile for a forced induction motor. Yes, improving the cylinder head flow will allways benefit you if it is naturally aspirated or turbo.

thanks for that mbracer, but that now presents me with another question, if i am to get a turbo, what fuel system should i implement? Should I just tune up the standard CIS-E or what do you think.

The stock CIS in the 4 clyl 16vlv version is capable of 300+ hp Naturaly aspirated. With two addtional injectors in a 6 cylinder configuration you should be good for upwards of 325-350 with some tweaking. The CIS-KE is capable of being modified, but it is better left to someone that know there way around the fuel system.

It it would be safer with boost >0.5bar to add an EIC, Extra injector controller, and add a couple addtional injectors to the manifold plenum to add enrichment.

If you are planning running a lot of boost or radical cams and timing you need an aftermarket fuel management system. Like the TEC-III Donnie uses in his 16 vlv. Either way if you want the most out of you cars engine an aftermarket fuel system is the ticket. Spend the money to have someone dyno tune it. Nothing is plug and play, even if it says so.
