I might buy a 1991 190e 2.3 in excellent condition. I want to make it as fast as possible and be practical for a daily driver.
I am looking up to 222hp. But since it is only a 4cyl. this will be a challange. Any ideas.

Is it a 2.3 or a 2.3-16? With the bottom of the line 2.3 I doubt 220 HP is possible without major turbo + engine rebuild. A 2.3-16 or 2.6 with a twin-turbo setup would be worlds faster... There is always nitrous for any situation but you run into the drawbacks of a depleteable boost source. Unless there is some reason you are set on a 8-valve 2.3 look elsewhere. In any application where performance is a must from a small/rev-happy engine try to get a manual tranny. Just my opinion...Lee

The Mercedes that you are asking about is the same car that I race! Don't think you can anywhere near 220 HP unless you are willing to spend $10,000 or more. Somewhere around 180 HP is possible for this engine! Have fun but sure that HP's cost MONEY!!

I've checked and for the 2.3 it could up you to 250hp. I have no experience with the product but you might want to give them a call just for knowledge. Ask for Janice or Sabrina.
