2.3 16valve info
Hello everyone in Benzland, can anybody give me any leads on where I can find Info on 2.3 16 valves, production numbers, performance for us spec and euro, differences between them and which one would you prefer, I'm interested in getting one. I ran across a 1988 white 16 valve euro , I"m not sure they were made in 88.
Thanks for your help. Ticobenz |

Try 190Rev! It has a wealth of knowledge on 190Es

Approximately 534 2.3-16's were made in 1988, the same year that they made 959 of the 2.5-16's. The euro version of the 2.3 rev'd higher (different fuel pump relay) and had higher compression pistons.

Since there were only 534 or so built in 88, I guess the $7500 they are asking for it is a pretty good price? It has 217.000 km with black leather with cloth inserts.

The number of units does not determine whether this particular car is a good value. Compared to a more common 2.6L (which has very similar performance) the 16 valve has only been able to maintain a slight premium in resale value, perhaps $2-3K more than a similar year 2.6. Also, be prepared to do some serious due diligence in inspecting a 16 valve since the car was originally sold to enthusiasts (higher revving, 5 speed manual) willing to pay the substantial premium when new, then were likely resold to similar minded owners who have been known to thrash the car around. The 16 valve has a few unique parts that are getting harder to obtain, especially if it truly is the euro version. Good luck!
