hydraulic dampers for a 500E

I know this subject has been done to death but after searching, I still cannot find the numbers ! I need to replace both rear hyraulic shocks on the 500E as one is certainly done at the bottom. The ones fitted have a label with the numbers on 124 320 42 13 and the Sachs number 012400 102 256. Also on the label are 3 large number ' 9 's. The only ones in town I can find look identical and are made by Sachs too. The numbers however are 124 320 48 13 and Sachs number 012400 102299 and 3 large number '5''s on the label. Question is can I use these new struts on my car as I am only after a stock ride to get rid of the clunking. BTW, he wants $740 a pair for them. As ever, I would really appreciate some help here as he will not release them without payment and once fitted, even incorrectly, they are mine !
Thanks in advance

The best source to obtain a correct response to your question is Sachs. They will be able to tell you whether the two Sachs numbers are interchangeable. I had great success dealing with their engineering dept. when my struts failed. To assure long service life, complete system flushes must be done every two years.

Thanks Lou, I'll give them a try ! One concern I had was that it occured to me the 124 estate also has this fitted and I think the rear weights are also different
