Hey, Im looking for a performance exhaust muffler for my 89 300E. Now, I know its not going to add any major power or anything. What Im looking for is the sound to be changed a little bit and the tips to look decent. I was thinking of supersprint over remus because of the price. I have no idea where to look for the best price on Supersprint though. Also, is it pissible to get a Universal supersprint muffler and have a shop put it on?? and would I get the same sound out of it??

thanks
Drew

Another thing to consider is Borla. They make really top quality stuff in both OEM and performance kits for MB. Give them a call and see if they have something for you. If they don't have a premade kit they can probably hook you up with a universal muffler and some adapter pieces.(especially if you can supply them with specs of your current system) I can't tell you how one muffler sounds in relation to another. That is something only the individual's ear can say.(too much personal taste) I've seen a 300E with the remus muffler and it wasn't bad. The tip protruded a few inches past where the stock one does. (shin knocker if your walking close behind the car or putting something in trunk) I'm sure your local muffler shop would rig something up for you, the question is do you want someone who has no familiarity with MB cutting and welding underneath your car? Just some thoughts...Lee

I have a Supersprint back box and resonator (the pipe between the back box and the down pipe from the manifold) on my 1990 230E - I would have got a down pipe too but they're only available for LHD.

Dual square tips. Looks great - snug fit under the rear valance, doesn't protrude at all - looks like it could be a stock performance item (which it isn't) the fit was so perfect. Sounds great too - but can get a bit wearing at high speed cruising. It really gets boomy at 4k rpm, ~80mph on my car, which is annoying since that it my average motor/highway speed. The tips didn't stay chrome and shiny for long though - I don't mind, it's more understated when dirty:-)

To be honest, I wouldn't get a straight-thru back box again, Supersprint or otherwise. The noise is fun for a while but the novelty wears off.
